As part of the European project “Green Trails of the Dunav and Drava” worth more than 17 million HRK implemented by the city of Belišće and the municipality of Erdut, we organized a four-day study trip (press trip) for tour operators and journalists.

In agreement with the hosts, we created a program of the trip which was aimed at twenty tour operators and journalists acquainted with the 19 locations covered by the project. Our Luka welcomed journalists and tour operators in beautiful Erdut, on river Dunav, where together with representatives of the city and municipality gave information about the goals and purpose of the project, all done to promote tourism. From there, the bus went on a tour of the planned locations. We visited the ecological-educational trails Porić in Erdut and Bistrinci in Belišće, visited the newly built hostel Belišće, and enjoyed quality wines and excellent food from local caterers.

As a special feature of this trip, we can highlight a visit to the winery Erdutski vineyards, one of the largest wineries in the Republic of Croatia, which owns over 500 hectares of vineyards and a competition in making shepherds, which is a big event in Belišće. The real pleasure was a tour of three small, family wineries – Brzica, Magistra, and Antunović. According to the owner Jasna Antunović, the special feature of the Antunović winery is that it is a “completely female winery”. The beautifully decorated Slavonian “shore” with a small cellar produces top-quality wines, as evidenced by the Decanter award for Graševina Premium, which the winery won in 2013. Magistra and Brzica delighted us with their position above the Dunav. The view of the Dunav, Bačka, Kopački rit is something that leaves you breathless.

Our guests were able to enjoy all aspects of these areas from natural and cultural heritage to entertainment.

When organizing the trip, we discovered the exceptional tourist potential of these Slavonian places, which with good feedback and investment in promotion and cultural, natural, and ethno – gastronomic facilities, in a very short time can become interesting for tourists looking for a different kind of vacation other than sun and the sea.

One of the interesting things about the trip was the discovery of the Milutin Milanković Cultural and Scientific Center in Erdut. This scientist, unknown to the public, is best known for developing one of the most important theories related to the movement of the Earth and long – term climate change.

Belišće and Erdut are connected by a joint project “Green Trails of Dunav and Drava” co-financed from the call Promoting Sustainable Development of Natural Heritage, within the Operational Program Competitiveness and cohesion 2014-2020. natural values of Osiječko – baranjska county, Public Institution County Development Agency of Osiječko – baranjska county, Tourist Board of Erdut Municipality, Kayak-Canoe Club Aljmaš, and Tourist Board of Belišće.

The purpose of the project is to create a framework for the revitalization of the project area through tourism development based on natural heritage, which will bring social, economic, and environmental benefits to the local population and community. The Dunav and Drava Green Trail project, in its basic idea, is based on the natural values of the landscape. It is a project that aims to increase the attractiveness and educational capacity while establishing better visitor management in the Dunav and Drava Green Trails and developing public awareness of the importance of biodiversity conservation through the promotion of the protected landscape Erdut, Mura-Drava Regional Park, and Natura 2000 ecological network.
